How long will an Ocean Child candle burn for?

In ideal conditions, 760g candles burn for up to 100 hours, 380g candles burn for up to 65 hours, and 60g candles burn for up to 20 hours.

However, burn times will depend on a variety of factors, including but not limited to: candle maintenance, length of each continuous burn time, candle placement, and age of the candle. To get the most of your Ocean Child candle, we recommend that you follow the care instructions provided.

Should I trim my wick?

As the wax level drops, the wicks will become longer preventing it from drawing wax to the top of the wick. This will cause the wick to burn. We recommend trimming your wick to 5mm from the wax between burns, or if the candle has been burning continuously for 2 or more hours. This will prevent your Ocean Child candle from burning black soot. It will also give it a longer burn time.

How long should I burn my Ocean Child candle for?

We recommend burning for more than 1 hour and less than 4 hours. Burning for less than 1 hour may result in the wax not melting all the way to the outside of the candle. This can cause a pattern of tunnelling, leaving unmelted wax around the edges. This could affect the fragrance of the candle, and could drown the wick, preventing it from staying alight. Burning for longer than 4 hours could result in the wick from getting too long, causing the wick to fall onto the side of the vessel, or heat the vessel up.

How do I know when my Ocean Child candle is ready to be refilled or reused?

We recommend that you stop burning your candle at the 10mm wax mark. Continuing to burn lower than this could lead to the vessel becoming too hot and/or crack, or damage the surface it is sitting on.

To remove any remaining wax from your concrete vessel, place it in the sink and fill it with hot water. The water will melt the wax, causing it to float to the surface of the vessel. Wipe away any residue with a dry cloth.

How does Ocean Child's Refillable Concept work?

Simply purchase an Ocean Child wax refill. We will send you an email providing instructions on how to return your concrete vessel for a wax refill.
